David is an avid and passionate paddler with an insatiable
thirst for canoe trips. He often complains that he doesn't get out
enough, despite his 13 trips over 70 days last year. Captivated by the
wilderness at an early age, he pursued many outdoor activities to
facilitate that love. Yet it was canoeing that he discovered to be his
true calling. Always actively seeking out either new, lost, popular or
unique routes, his desire to paddle them all keeps him dreaming and
planning. Despite the 'endearing' comments from family and friends, his
passion for paddling and the outdoors keeps him focused on figuring how
to squeeze more time and trips throughout the season!

at a Passionate Paddler
"It is the
soul's duty to be loyal to its own desires. It must abandon itself to
its master passion." - Rebecca West

One
fateful day, 8 years ago, David non-chalantly picked up a book on canoe
routes by Kevin Callan. Since then, his life has become a
whirlwind of paddling.
While David always loved the outdoors and activities related to it, he
began to
develop a fondness
for canoe tripping. Once he realized the canoe was the
perfect means of providing him endless possibilities for discovering
the Canadian wilderness, a passion was ignited.

David
enjoys all kinds of canoe trips. Whether long multi-week trips or short
weekend ones, from popular park destinations to lost crown
land routes. He
tries to make the most of the canoeing season by stretching it as far
as he
can, which sometimes means ice,
snow, and freezing temperatures. Whether
low water or no water, tough portages or not, bogs or swamps, he enjoys
challenges
and pursues all trips with an undying zeal.

Cameras
have always accompanied David on his canoe trips to capture not
only the beautiful scenery but also the amusing and interesting
situations
that he gets himself into. He loves to share his adventures with family
and
friends through his captivating
pictures, amusing trip reports and slideshows.
Many have found inspiration from them to get back into the outdoors and
others
have expressed bewilderment in how beautiful our province is. David
feels too
many people are caught up in the urban lifestyle, losing their
connection to
the outdoors, and he hopes to encourage others to venture out and
explore our
vast, beautiful wilderness.

David's
passion for paddling may have lit a flame inside of him, but he hopes
that the same passion will fan the flames and spread the
wildfire to those
around him.
